Current threats over the Tanoé Swamps Forest and its exceptional biodiversity

The Tanoé Swamps Forest, without any protection status is victim of all sorts of aggressions. In addition to poaching that affects the exceptional fauna of that forest, the most alarming threats result from the projected replacement of the Tanoé Forest by palm oil plantations. The largest of these plantations will belong to PALMCI, a palm oil company linked with UNILEVER. PALMCI has started the systematic destruction of the Tanoé Swamps Forest since February 2008 without any environmental impact study. If nothing is done to stop them, the Tanoé Forest and its unique biodiversity will be massacred in the short term
